I’m Esther and welcome to Rewired Handmade. Join me on my mission to 'rewire' the fashion industry one upcycled item at a time.
There is currently enough clothing on this planet to dress the next 6 generations. So I figured, why not use what's already here instead?
Each upcycled piece is handmade by me, made from pre-loved second hand or vintage fabrics. Textiles that have had a previous life but are remade into something 'new' and wearable.
The idea of 'Rewired Handmade' was born in 2024 in Tofino, a tiny surf town on Canada’s west coast and evolved into the mission it is today in the quirky city of Utrecht in The Netherlands.

What is that mission you ask? ​
I believe we need to 'rewire' the way we think about clothing. Away from fast fashion and constant newness, towards creativity and appreciation for that what already exists. With Rewired Handmade, I want to contribute to a world where we buy less often, choose better, and wear clothes that feel like an extension of who we are and how we live.
Rewired is for those who, like me, live somewhere in between nature and the city but are longing to live a slower and more grounded life with a wardrobe that fits that lifestyle.
Rewired is for living slower and more colourfully.​

What materials are the products made of?
All items are handmade from repurposed, vintage or second-hand materials. That means every item is totally unique. You might see slight variations in colour, pattern, or texture.

I try my best to list the main materials in the product description, but because these fabrics have had a previous life, it’s not always possible to note exactly what they are.

I love this item, but could you make it in a different size or fabric?
Unfortunately, I cannot make custom sizes. Every item is handmade from re-used materials, so each piece is unique.
I occasionally produce small batches when I have enough of a certain type of fabric, but even then, items will always have slight differences.

However, I do love hearing your ideas! But because I work with repurposed fabrics, I can’t promise exact matches.
​
Sometimes I announce special custom orders on my Instagram and in the webshop, that’s when custom items are officially available.
​
Even if a custom option isn’t open, you’re always welcome to send me a message about a specific product to ask if it could be made in a different size or with a similar fabric. So while I can often offer something similar, it will never be exactly the same

The packaging looks a bit pre-loved… is that ok?
Absolutely! Wherever I can, I reuse packaging materials to cut down on waste and be more eco-friendly.
Boxes, paper, or tape might have had a previous life, but your order is always carefully packed and secure.

How do I know what size to order?
Each product listing includes EU sizes and flat measurements listed in the description.
All items are measured lying flat on the ground, so you can compare them to your own clothes.
Please check these measurements carefully to make sure your item fits and take a moment to double-check. It really helps avoid surprises.

How long until my order arrives?
I process orders within 2–3 business days, unless stated otherwise in the product description.
Once your package is shipped, it’s in the hands of the postal service / delivery company.
I do my best to get it to you safely, but delivery times can vary depending on your location.

I ship worldwide with tracking included. Heads up: customs duties or import taxes might apply depending on your country: these are the responsibility of the buyer

How do I take care of my handmade piece?
All items are handmade from pre-loved textiles, which makes it a delicate and one-of-a-kind piece.
To keep it looking its best, please handle with care.
Hand wash gently in cold water using a mild detergent. Avoid tumble drying and ironing to protect the fabric’s texture and shape.
For light stains, you can spot clean by gently dabbing the area with a damp cloth.
After washing, reshape and lay it flat on a towel to air dry.

Can I return an item if it doesn’t fit?
Due to the nature of Rewired Handmade products (being handmade, one-of-a-kind, and produced in small batches) returns are not accepted.

This is in accordance with EU consumer law, which allows an exception to the right of withdrawal for custom-made and unique goods.
​
